Takeda Kounsai's Mistress Tokiko in the Snow - Terrific portrait of Takeda Kounsai's mistress Tokiko as a woman warrior, standing in the snow as the wind whips her loose hair and kimono about her. She wears a dotted gray robe over her armor, her hair tied back with a white headband, and she grips a spear with both hands as she looks defiantly over her shoulder. A large pine tree frames the snowy mountain setting, with a hand-applied spattering of white pigment (gofun) creating a snowstorm. A fantastic design. The Los Angeles County Museum of Art has this image in its collection.
