The Soga Brothers at Suketsune's New Year's Party - Great five panel kabuki scene from the famous tale of the Soga Brothers, who vowed to avenge their father's death at the hands of the nobleman Kudo Suketsune. Here, the young samurai announce their intentions to Suketsune during a New Year's party. In the center, Suketsune stands on a cushion unrolling a scroll with a portrait of a scowling man on it. At left, the impetuous younger brother Goro glares back at him, while Juro watches from the right. A handsome design with blossoming plum branches framing the sky. A rare complete pentaptych design, also in the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.

Image Size - 14 1/4" x 48 1/4" + top margin as shown

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Five separate panels, backed with paper. Large losses at edges, wormholes, repaired with backing. Slight toning and soiling, a few spots and creases, staining at bottom edge. Please see photos for details.
