Beauty with Iris Blossoms

Series; Beauties and Seven Flowers

Beauty with Iris Blossoms - Charming portrait of an upper-class beauty of the Imperial court posed in front of oversize iris blossoms in purple and white. She smiles as she looks ahead, her hair pulled sleekly back into a long ponytail. She wears a purple and red outer kimono over white under robes, and has a folding fan tucked into her obi. The irises are beautifully detailed and form a striking backdrop for the figure against a sky shaded from red to white to pale blue. Accented with faint embossing in the white robe. A rarely seen Yoshitoshi beauty series.

Artist - Yoshitoshi (1839 - 1892)

Image Size - 14 1/8" x 9 5/8" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Some slight creasing at edges. Pinholes at upper corners, repaired. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
