Courtesan with a Shamisen

Comments - Lovely portrait of a courtesan walking down the hallway of a teahouse, carrying a shamisen with one hand as she adjusts a hairpin with the other. Her kimono features a striking design of feathers, worn over a red under robe and tied with a checked obi. The silhouettes of a beauty playing the shamisen, a man with a fan, and another smoking a pipe can be seen on the shoji panels behind the courtesan. A beautiful Edo era design.

Artist - Eizan (1787 - 1867)

Image Size - 13 7/8" x 10"

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Slight paper remnants on reverse at top edge from previous mounting. Please see photos for details. Nice overall.
