Nakamura Fukusuke I as a Footman Returning from Flower Viewing and Nakamura Shijaku (?) as a Palace Groundskeeper Doing Morning Cleaning, 1860

Comments - Great kabuki double portrait of Nakamura Fukusuke I as a footman returning from flower viewing and Nakamura Shijaku (?) as a palace groundskeeper doing morning cleaning. Sitting with his arms folded across his chest and his hands tucked into his sleeves, the mustached footman stares up at his companion. The groundskeeper looks over his shoulder with a meek smile, clutching his sleeves to his chest. Nice large expressive figures set off by a deep blue night sky shaded to black at the top. A handsome design, also in the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 13 7/8" x 9 1/2" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. A couple holes, repaired. Slight soiling and rubbing, a few creases at edges. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
