Comments - Handsome scene at the Aburaya Pleasure House from a play commonly known as "Ise Ondo," a drama about a valuable sword possessed by a bloodthirsty spirit that causes its owner to commit murder. Here, the samurai Fukuoka Mitsugi scowls as he looks at the beauty kneeling at right. She shyly bows her head, smiling to herself as she adjusts a hairpin. Behind them, the silhouettes of beauties performing the Ise Ondo dance can be seen on the shoji windows lining the room. Red and white paper lanterns hang overhead. A terrific design, nicely colored and detailed.
