Otani Tomoemon as Miura no Suke, 1865

Comments - Handsome kabuki portrait of Otani Tomoemon as the samurai Miura no Suke. Leaning back on one knee, he grips his bow with both hands, dressed in a fine suit of armor over a red print kimono and patterned green and blue pants. The banners and weapons of samurai troops can be seen in dark silhouette above a row of clouds across the top. An interesting design.
