Series; One-to-One Combats at the Great Battle of Kawanakajima

Sone Shimotsuke versus Saito Shimotsuke no kami, 1857 - Fantastic image of Sone Shimotsuke and Saito Shimotsuke no kami fighting fiercely during the Battle of Kawanakajima. Sone Shimotsuke has forced his enemy to the ground, kneeling atop him and gripping his sword near his face. Pinned down, Saito Shimotsuke no kami, bites his lip and jams his foot against Sone's bloody face to push him away. Gripping his own bloody sword, his tries to reach Sone but his enemy grabs hold of his wrist. Above, two horseman charge at each other. An incredible image capturing the intensity of the battle. A great samurai subject, beautifully detailed.

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Slight thinning, small loss at edge, a few small wormholes, repaired. Slight toning and soiling, wrinkling at left side, a few creases, slight rubbing at edges. Please see photos for details.
