Series; Popular Songs on Children's Games

Dojoji, circa 1840 - Charming portrait of a young girl performing Dojoji, a dance-drama about Dojoji Temple which was popular as both Noh and kabuki plays. She wears a cherry blossom covered hat, and waves two attached hats in each hand as she sways gracefully. Her kimono is shaded from medium to light blue and patterned with flowers and running streams. An attractive design from a rarely seen Kuniyoshi series depicting children performing traditional dances with the song lyrics above. The first time we've seen a subject from this series.
