Comments - Fantastic scene of Masakiyo (the real life Kato Kiyomasa) bringing two exotic beasts that he has captured to his master. In the center, Masakiyo stands on the deck, glaring angrily as several samurai hold bamboo poles attached to a collar around a snarling tiger's neck. At upper left, another retainer feeds hay to an elephant. At right, noblemen react with alarm at the site of the unusual animals, throwing their hands out, while the master sits on a platform in a separate room at upper right, his face hidden behind a reed blind. A terrific illustration from the "Taikoki," the biography of the great Toyotomi Hideyoshi.
