Monk outside a Daimyo's Mansion and Samurai Drawing a Sword

Comments - Interesting kabuki triptych featuring two scenes separated diagonally. At left, a monk stands outside a daimyo's mansion, frowning slightly. A seated samurai scowls up at him angrily. At right, a beauty is a cherry blossom print kimono grins happily as she looks up at her companions. The fellow beside her looks suspiciously out of the corner of his eyes at a man who is drawing his sword. The figures are set off by a deep red background. Nice large figures.

Artist - Kunichika (1835 - 1900)

Image Size - 13 3/4" x 27 3/4"
