Tsuchiya Koitsu - After moving to Tokyo at age fifteen, Koitsu studied for many years with the woodblock artist Kobayashi Kiyochika. Known for his beautiful landscape prints with a dramatic use of light and shade, Koitsu was one of the leaders of the shin-hanga or new print movement in 20th century Japan.

Half Moon Bridge, Kameido, 1933 - Lovely view of Kameido Tenmangu Shrine during a spring shower. The famous Half Moon Bridge arches gracefully over the water, and lavender and pink wisteria hangs from the edge of an arbor at right where a woman can be seen entering the shrine. At attractive design with lovely color and fine bokashi shading in the sky.

Signed - Koitsu, with red artist's seal "shin" (true)
