A Fuji Arts Special Offer Auction

Bando Mitsugoro as Empress Jingu and Nakamura Shikan as Takeuchi Sukune, 1832 - Great kabuki double portrait of Bando Mitsugoro as the legendary Empress Jingu, who invaded Korea, and Nakamura Shikan as her general Takenouchi Sukune. She looks over her shoulder with a dismayed expression, a bow in hand. She wears layers of kimono over a suit of armor, and a quiver of arrows is visible at her back. The elderly Takenouchi gestures with his fan as he looks to the side with an angry grimace, his gray hair falling loosely over his shoulders. A handsome design, nicely detailed.

Artist - Kuniyoshi (1797 - 1861)

Image Size - 14 1/2" x 9 1/2"

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Stitching holes at side, losses at corners, repaired. Slight toning and soiling, a few creases. Please see photos for details.
