Comments - Handsome double portrait from the play "Dan-no-ura Kabuto Gunki" of Ichikawa Danzo VI as Iwanaga Saemon and Ichikawa Ichizo III as Chichifuji Shigetada. At bottom, the Minamoto commander Shigetada looks to the side with a frown as he holds his fan with both hands. He wears a blue gray vest over a matching color kimono with a geometric white design and a subtle burnished pattern. Above, his retainer Iwanaga is alarmed, his eyes wide as he grips his cased sword. Nice expressive figures, with additional burnishing on the black scabbard.
