Series; Beauties and the Seven Flowers, 1878

Peony: Yotsutsuji Kiyoko - Lovely portrait of the noblewoman Yotsutsuji Kiyoko from a series pairing beauties from the Imperial Court with flowers. She smiles as she looks over her shoulder, relaxing against a lacquer armrest. She wars a purple print outer robe over a white kimono and white under robe, each embossed with a different pattern. Oversized peonies blossoms and deep green leaves are set against a background shaded from red to white to green. An attractive design from this rarely seen Yoshitoshi beauty series.

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Horizontal and vertical folds. Creasing, slight soiling, small stain. Please see photos for details.
