Palanquin Stopping outside a Garden Gate, 1853

Comments - Interesting kabuki scene of the nobleman Kikuchi Sadayuki riding inside a palanquin that has stopped outside a garden gate. A samurai crouches beside the palanquin, looking up with a worried frown. Sadayuki stares back with him with a frown, his brows slightly furrowed. A handsome night scene with fine bokashi shading in the background.
