Scene from Shubu-dachi Tsui no Kyokaku, 1865 - Dramatic kabuki double portrait from the play "Shubu-dachi Tsui no Kyokaku" featuring Nakamura Tsuruzo I as Yuhari Nijiro and Ichimura Kakitsu IV as Tsumakasa Koyojiro. At upper right, Nijiro stares ahead with an angry grimace as he grips a blood-stained sword. Koyojiro sneers as he grabs hold of his attacker's arm, blood soaking his blue and white summer cotton kimono and dripping down his forearm.
