A Fuji Arts Special Offer Auction

Forty-eight Selected Views of Edo, 1892 - Not much is known or published about this unusual and rare series, "Forty-eight Selected Views of Edo," which features some of the finest designs from Hiroshige's original "One Hundred Views of Edo" series. Published in 1892 by Kodama Matashichi, the series includes striking prints produced with the original blocks, and in some cases, the addition of new blocks. This memorial series includes some of Hiroshige's most memorable images, many of which are now hard to find from the original edition. Beautifully detailed with soft shading and fine line work, prints from the "Selected Views" are a great opportunity to acquire these classic Hiroshige subjects.

Ayase River and Kanegafuchi - Tranquil rural scene of the point where the Ayase River flows into the Sumida at Kanegafuchi. The area was known for its silk trees, and the pink blossoms of one frame a view of a lone boatman poling his raft along the water. Tall grasses grow in the marshy area, and a heron flies across the sky in the distance. A charming design.
