Forty-eight Selected Views of Edo, 1892 - Not much is known or published about this unusual and rare series, "Forty-eight Selected Views of Edo," which features some of the finest designs from Hiroshige's original "One Hundred Views of Edo" series. Published in 1892 by Kodama Matashichi, the series includes striking prints produced with the original blocks, and in some cases, the addition of new blocks. This memorial series includes some of Hiroshige's most memorable images, many of which are now hard to find from the original edition. Beautifully detailed with soft shading and fine line work, prints from the "Selected Views" are a great opportunity to acquire these classic Hiroshige subjects.

Suijin Shrine and Massaki on the Sumida River - Lovely view of the Sumida River, with cargo ships traveling along the water and Mt. Tsukuba in the distance. In the foreground, pedestrians follow a path to the Hashiba Ferry. A beautiful blossoming cherry tree frames the scene. Fine color and excellent detail in this attractive design.
