Original Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864) Japanese Woodblock Print
Toriyama Akisaku

Comments - Great kabuki scene of the hunter Toriyama Akisaku stepping out of a hollow tree with his bow in hand. He looks down with an angry frown, the loose hairs at the side of his face giving him a slightly disheveled appearance. At lower right, a man sprawls on the ground with an arrow sticking out of him. Leafy branches frame the night sky behind him with mountains in dark silhouette. An intriguing image with an atmospheric setting.

Image Size - 14 1/4" x 9 7/8" + top margin as shown

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Folds at corners. Tiny loss at corner, repaired. Slight toning, slight creasing at edges, a couple spots. Please see photos for details.
