A Fuji Arts Special Offer Auction

Ichimura Utaemon XII as Sashichi and Bando Shuka I as Koito, 1849 - Charming scene from the kabuki play "Kotoba no hana momiji no Yozakari" of the courtesan Koito entertaining her guest, the fireman Sashichi. She smiles at him as she plays the shamisen, her robes trailing onto the floor around her. He leans forward with an anxious expression, a pipe in his hand. Blue curtains decorated with flowering plants hang in the doorway, and a red lacquer tray covered with a cloth rests atop a lidded wooden bucket at left. An interesting design with a nicely detailed interior.
