Daisojo Gyoson, Poet No. 66 - Handsome scene from the kabuki play "Imoseyama" showing the unhappy Koganosuke standing alongside the flowing Yoshino River, frowning as he looks down. He has fallen in love with the young beauty who lives across the river, but the two families are bitter enemies. He rests his chin on one hand, his other balanced atop the hilt of his sword. Delicate petals from the flowering cherry trees lining the river drift across the water. The poem by Daisojo Gyoson reads:

On a mountain slope,
Solitary, uncompanioned,
Stands a cherry tree.
Except for you, lonely friend,
To others I am unknown.

An attractive design from this very popular drama, with lovely color and fine bokashi shading in the water.
