Meiji Emperor and Empress Viewing Cherry Blossoms at Ueno Park

Comments - Lovely triptych depicting the Meiji Emperor and Empress and members of the court enjoying an outing to view the cherry blossoms at Ueno Park. The Empress smiles happily as she strolls with her ladies-in-waiting, one holding a purple umbrella above her head and another tending to a young child. The Emperor stands on the verandah of the red shrine behind them, with clouds of pink blossoms framing the scene. Nice embossed detail in the white kimono collars. A charming look at this popular spring activity.

Image Size - 28 1/4" x 14 1/8" + margins as shown
