A Fuji Arts Special Offer Auction

Eight Views of Omi Province - In Japan, the scenic "Eight Views of Omi" was a popular subject for woodblock print artists, featuring specific landscapes and weather conditions in Omi Province. Hiroshige did many series of this classic subject, returning to it again and again. While most of his Omi views are horizontal format, this 1857 series takes an unusual vertical orientation, with the landscape below and a border of clouds decorated with scattered confetti-like shapes across the top. These attractive panoramic views feature fine detail and soft bokashi shading. A rarely seen series. This print is from an 1891 Memorial Edition of the 1857 series.
