Comments - Attractive scene of the Meiji Empress and a group of ladies-in-waiting on an outing to view cherry blossoms at Ueno Park. The empress stands in the center, one attendant sheltering her with a large umbrella while another leads her by the hand. A few other women stand on the stone steps at right. The hilltop overlooks Shinobazu Pond below, the view framed by cherry trees covered with pink blossoms. A charming spring subject with nice detail in the elegant fabrics and park setting. Includes faint embossing in the white kimono collars.
