Attacking a Beauty, 1888

Comments - Dramatic kabuki scene of a man attacking a beauty in her bed, raising a sword above his head as he holds the mosquito netting in his other hand, biting his lower lip in anger. The beauty recoils, throwing her hand out in self-defense, an overturned pillow at her side. An alcove behind them hold a hanging scroll and a vase of irises, a koto leaning against the wall and a pair of swords resting in a black lacquer box below. Nice expressive figures in a handsomely detailed interior setting. Including metallic pigment that has oxidized to a dark tone on the sword.

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Backed with paper. Vertical fold at side. Slight soiling, slight rubbing at edges. Please see photos for details.
