Young Lovers Eloping

Comments - Charming Kiyonaga design of the beauty Osen and her young lover running away to elope. The daughter of a teahouse owner, Osen was a famous Edo beauty in the 18th century. The handsome young man carries her on his back as he wades across a river, keeping her safe and dry. The graceful branches of a willow tree frame the dark night sky behind them. A handsome reprint with soft shading in the water.
