Series; Famous Views of the Fifty-three Stations of the Tokaido, circa 1835
Hodogaya, Totsuka, Fujisawa, and Hiratsuka Stations, circa 1835 - Striking composition for the stations of Hodogaya, Totsuka, Fujisawa and Hiratsuka from Kuniyoshi's rarely seen Tokaido series. Two trees in dark silhouette dominate the page, with a group of porters at lower left and a shaded mountain range above clouds along the horizon. Yellow cartouches designate Shinmachi Bridge at Hodogaya, Yoshida Bridge at Totsuka, and Fujisawa Bridge. An intriguing design.
