A Fuji Arts Special Offer Auction

Shining Figurine, 1849 - Fantastic scene from the kabuki play "Kotoba no hana momiji no Yozakari." Ichimura Uzaemon XII appears as the young Asamaru, sitting on a stone and holding a small figurine in a case in his outstretched hand. Rays of yellow light radiate from the deity, shining across the gloomy gray evening sky. Nakamura Utaemon IV portrays the page Hosaku, standing with a hoe behind his back. He scowls angrily at Asamaru, several loose hairs framing his face. He wears a green kimono patterned with takaramono or precious things, emblems of prosperity and good fortune, such as a magic straw-fringed raincoat and sacred jewels. The young Asamaru, who will become the great warrior Kagekiyo, wears a pale blue robe covered with kanji characters. An intriguing image with soft shading in the background.
