Original Yoshiiiku (1833 - 1904) Japanese Woodblock Print
From the Forty-Eight Views: Dawn at Futamigaura, Fukuoka Prefecture

Comments - Handsome kabuki scene of a man looking up from a letter with an angry expression, loose strands of hair around his face giving him a slightly disheveled expression. His dark blue kimono features a subtle burnished geometric pattern. The famous Wedded Rocks at Futamigaura provide an attractive backdrop for the figure as the sun begins to rise, spreading a rosy glow along the horizon. An attractive design in a horizontal format that is seldom seen for kabuki portraits. The first time we've come across this subject.

Image Size - 8 3/4" x 13 5/8" + margins as shown
