Mashiba Hisayoshi and Prince Samboshi - Interesting kabuki scene of the great warrior Mashiba Hisayoshi (the kabuki name for Hashiba Hideyoshi carrying the young Prince Samboshi on his shoulder. He angrily confronts two other samurai, who glare back at him, the fellow in the center sneering disrespectfully. Hisayoshi wears a black robe with a beautiful burnished paulownia pattern and a tall black court cap. From left, the actors are Ichikawa Sadanji I, Sawamura Tossho II, and Nakamura Shikan IV. Nice large figures set off by a deep blue background, with additional burnishing in all three black court caps, and embossing on the white kimono trim at left.

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Three attached panels, backed with paper. Small hole, repaired. Slight toning and soiling. Please see photos for details.
