Onoe Baiko V as Taira no Masakado and Ichikawa Danjuro as Shibaraku, 1893 - Terrific portrait of Baiko as the powerful Taira no Masakado. His flowing beard and blue stage makeup give him a striking appearance. He wears an elegant robe with a deeply embossed silver mica design, and a flat headdress topped with jewels. He raises his staff of office angrily above his head as he stares ahead. The inset above shows Ichikawa Danjuro in the famous play "Shibaraku." An incredible image, one of the most dramatic subjects from this series, beautifully detailed, with additional embossing on the hilt of the sword and the staff of office in his hand.
