Teraoka Heiemon, 1867 by Kunichika (1835 - 1900)

Original Kunichika (1835 - 1900) Japanese Woodblock Print
Teraoka Heiemon, 1867

Series; Opened Fans Blooming with Flowery Words

Opened Fans Blooming with Flowery Words - Handsome design from the collaborative series "Opened Fans Blooming with Flowery Words" featuring kabuki portraits by Kunichika and Kuniteru II. Each print sets a large, half-length actor against a shaded night sky, with a folding fan shaped inset containing a verse. The expressive figures are nicely drawn and detailed with fine line work in the hair. The first time we've come across this interesting kabuki series. A nice choice for a Kunichika collector.

Artist - Kunichika (1835 - 1900)

Image Size - 14" x 9 1/2" + left margin as shown

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Fold at corner. Stitching holes at side, repaired. Slight toning and soiling, a few creases. Please see photos for details.
