by Yoshitora (active circa 1840 - 1880)
Comments - Terrific illustration inside one of the buildings at Japan's Second National Industrial Exhibition, which was held in 1881. Visitor stroll along the aisle admiring the objects on display, including an arrangement of ceramic vases and large bowls on a tiered table at bottom center. At right, glass-fronted cases hold dolls and examples of clothing, with bolts of cloth on shelves nearby. An intriguing look at this historic event, with lively color and wonderful detail. Includes metallic pigment that has oxidized to a dark tone on the large vases at top center.
