Original Eizan (1787 - 1867) Japanese Woodblock Print
Young Couple Kakemono

Comments - Charming kakemono or vertical diptych pillar print of a young couple, the man looking anxious as he peers around the edge of the beauty's sleeve. She smiles down at him fondly, a letter in her hand. Her hair is pulled back into a large bun adorned with a lacquer comb, hairpins, and ribbons, and she wears a fashionable red lipstick that takes on a greenish tone when more thickly applied, giving her two-toned lips. An attractive Edo era design.

Artist - Eizan (1787 - 1867)

Image Size - 23 5/8" x 3 3/4"

Condition - This print with good detail as shown. Two separate panels. Slight paper remnants on reverse from previous backing. Hole, repaired. Slight toning and creasing. Please see photos for details.
