by Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)
Comments - Attractive image of a beauty feeding koi from a boat, tossing mochi (rice cakes) to them from a bag. She smiles happily as she watches the fish come to the surface, three fighting over the same treat at left. The man in the front of the boat grins up at her, while the fellow in the center frowns unhappily, tapping his closed fan against his palm. A boatman poles the craft through the water, blossoming iris lining the shore with a wooden walkway built out over them. A charming summer subject with fine bokashi shading.
