Series; The Eight Snow Scenes in the Eastern Capital

Evening Snow at Takanawa - Lovely Hiroshige night scene from his "Eight Snow Scenes in the Eastern Capital" series. Travelers make their way along the snowy embankment at Takanawa, a groom leading a plodding horse with its head down as bearers carry a palanquin in the opposite direction. The masts of fishing boats anchored in the harbor for the evening rise against the night sky as snow falls quietly. A beautiful winter view with the deep blue of the water contrasting against the white snow and dark sky.
