Samurai under a Full Moon, 1882 - Handsome kabuki scene of Ichikawa Danjuro as Yaheiji and Ichikawa Sadanji as Kurahashi Judayu, standing outside a castle under a full moon. At left, Yaheiji stares up at the night sky with a frown, clutching a scroll in his hand. Kurahashi scowls at him angrily at right, his brows furrowed, gripping the scabbard of his sword. Both men wear finely dotted kamishimo over solid color kimono. An interesting composition with the large figures flanked by the tall stone walls of the fortress, with quietly rippling water in between. Includes a dusting of mica across the top of the night sky.
