Original Nisaburo Ito (1910 - 1988) Japanese Woodblock Print
Arima Hot Spring

Comments - Interesting evening view of Arima Hot Spring, a well-known town within Kobe, located behind Mt. Rokko. A man walks down the center of the street as a beauty stands in the open doorway at left, light spilling onto the ground. A few yellow lamps, a red paper lantern, and a sign with red lighting add notes of color to the subdued night scene rendered in tones of gray beneath a dark blue sky. A rarely seen subject by Nisaburo Ito, published by Uchida on watermarked paper with publisher's seal in the lower left margin. The first time we've come across this attractive modern design.

Artist - Nisaburo Ito (1910 - 1988)

Image Size - 15 3/4" x 10 3/4" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Slight paper remnants on reverse at two points on left edge from previous mounting. A few creases at edges, ink notation on reverse. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
