Original Omura Koyo (1891 - 1983) Japanese Woodblock Print
Gojunoto at Night

Comments - Handsome moonlit view of Ninna-ji Temple Gojunoto in Kyoto. A leafy tree covered with lush foliage frames the foreground, the temple building glimpsed through the branches while the pagoda rises above. Misty clouds drift across the glowing yellow full moon. An attractive design with a beautiful, rich, color palette. Omura Koyo graduated from the Kyoto City Specialist School of Painting and studied with noted painter Takeuchi Seiho. Koyo did a series of woodblock prints of Kyoto that were published by Kyoto Hanga-in, but his works are rarely seen. Would make a nice addition to a shin-hanga collection.

Publisher - Kyoto Hanga-in, publisher's seal in left margin

Artist - Omura Koyo (1891 - 1983)

Image Size - 15 3/8" x 10 1/2" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Slight paper remnants on reverse at right corners from previous mounting. Slight toning, a few creases at edges. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
