Yoshida Sawaemon Kanesada and Okuda Magodayu Shigemori, 1885 - Terrific scene of Yoshida Sawaemon Kanesada and Okuda Magodayu Shigemori attacking Moronao's retainers. The warrior in the foreground stands atop a fallen folding screen, stabbing his spear at an enemy sprawling beneath it. Biting his lower lip in determination, he grips his spear with both hands as he plunges the weapon into his victim. His battle helmet features a fierce lion's head, with his face appearing to emerge from the animal's mouth. The samurai behind him raises his sword as he flings out his other arm. glaring intently as he looks ahead. His face is hidden behind a black cloth, only his blazing eyes visible. A dynamic action scene with wonderful detail and movement, beautifully colored. A great 47 ronin design by Kyosai.
