The Sixty-odd Provinces of Great Japan, 1852
Iga Province: Ichikawa Ebizo V as Iga no Jutaro - Terrific kabuki portrait of Ichikawa Ebizo V as Iga no Jutaro, a former retainer now hiding out in the mountains under the name Yotsuzuka Daisaku. He grimaces with rage as he looks over his shoulder, his eyes bulging and hand clenched into a fist. He wears and elegant red robe patterned with dragons with a fur collar over a suit of armor, his long white hair falling over his shoulders. At upper right, a circular inset framed by a Toshidama seal contains a view of Iga Province. A fantastic bold design, beautifully detailed with embossing on the white hair and beard, and burnishing on the Toshidama seal.
