Adachi was one of the most respected publishers of the 20th century. Their woodblocks were printed to the highest standards with excellent color and fine detail. Founded in 1925, Adachi also chose interesting and varied subjects for their prints and was the only publisher of many famous old ukiyo-e images.

Poem by Kiyohara no Fukayabu - Great image of pleasure boats on the Sumida River enjoying a cool breeze as night falls. The large boat at left is full of merrymakers under a row of colorful paper lanterns. The verse by the tenth-century poet Kiyohara Fukayabu reads:

In the summer night,
While the evening still seems here,
Lo! the dawn has come.
In what region of the clouds
Has the wandering moon found place?
