Adachi Motoemon Attacking Yasuke, 1854 - Dramatic, gory scene from the kabuki play "Kaikei Dengajaya-mura" of the evil Adachi Motoemon attacking his younger brother, Yasuke, a servant of Hayase Genjiro. Motoemon snuck into Genjiro's home to steal his money, and ends up murdering his brother in his bed. Here, Motoemon straddles his victim, preparing to plunge his sword into Yasuke again and the bleeding man grabs his kimono, an anguished expression on his face. The actors are Otani Tomoemon IV as Adachi Motoemon and Ichikawa Kodanji IV as Yasuke. Expressive figures in a handsomely detailed setting.
