Moon Viewing over Sarashina Rice Fields - An exquisite Chikanobu triptych masterwork with several visitors enjoying a particularly special phenomenon - the full moon’s reflection on the flooded rice fields of Sarashina. This famous view was also illustrated in the Edo era by Hiroshige. Two women relax at a tea stand at right, while the others point towards the beautiful view below, where an elderly man and a boy stroll along a pathway. At center right, a man wearing a Western hat climbs the steps to the stone memorial for the poet Basho, next to an enormous bolder called Obaishi or Granny Rock. A lovely, lyrical subject detailed with soft bokashi shading in the sky and touches of burnishing.

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three separate panels. Vertical fold at side of two panels. Small losses at corners, slight thinning at edge, hole, repaired. A couple creases at edges, a few small spots and marks, small stain. Please see photos for details.
