Attacking a Samurai at a Palace, 1858

Comments - Intriguing image of warriors attacking a samurai in formal court dress at a palace. He stands at the foot of the steps, frowning as three archers aim arrows directly at him. Other retainers thrust spears at his companions on either side of him. In the room behind him, two daimyo sit on cushions watching the scene unfold. A folding screen at the back of the room features playful lions. An interesting subject with expressive figures and a nicely detailed setting.
