The Fourth Shogun Ietsuna Visiting the Family Mausoleum at Nikko - Magnificent view of Ietsuna, the fourth Tokugawa Shogun, visiting the family mausoleum at the shrine of Nikko. Dressed in formal court robes and caps, a procession of noblemen walks quietly under the black torii gate and up the steps to the entrance gate. The shogun wears a black robe with a beautiful burnished pattern, a boy following behind carrying his trailing sash. Retainers kneel respectfully on either side of the stone stairway. Lovely architectural detail in the colorful and ornate buildings, which feature carved panels and tile roofs. Pine trees rise above the rooftops, filling the background with deep green foliage. A fantastic design, elegantly printed with rich color, and extensive burnishing in the torii gate, stone lanterns, and rooftops.
