The Battle of Komakiyama

Comments - Lively scene from the Battle of Komaki and Nagakute, which was actually a series of battles between the forces of Toyotomi Hideyoshi and Tokugawa Ieyasu. In the center, the Tokugawa warrior Sakakibara Yasumasa gallops into the battle on a brown horse, thrusting his sword at an enemy as he tramples over other opponents, sending them tumbling to the ground. AT left, a samurai on a black horse turns to look back as he rides past, waving his sword above his head. Clouds of smoke billow across the battlefield as fighting continues all around them. A great dramatic image with expressive figures, wonderful detail in the armor and weapons, and fine bokashi shading on the smoke.
