Comments - Handsome kabuki double portrait from the play "Kabuki no Hana Bandai Soga" featuring Bando Mitsugoro I as the greengrocer Hanbei and Segawa Kikunojo III as his wife, Ochiyo. The couple strolls along sharing an umbrella, Hanbei frowning unhappily as the beauty smiles at him. The pair wears matching kimono with embossed stripes and floral motifs over tie-dyed robes. A nicely detailed scene from this play performed at the Ichimura Theater in 1781.
