Ichimura Kakitsu IV as Mizushima Samon, 1868

Series; Mirror of Good and Evil

Ichimura Kakitsu IV as Mizushima Samon, 1868 - Terrific kabuki scene of Ichimura Kakitsu IV as the prisoner Mizushima Samon attempting to escape. He grabs the handle of a spear thrust at him, sneering angrily as he raises his sword, a handcuff and chain attached to his wrist. He wears a boldly patterned dark blue and white kimono tied with a white obi, his hair pulled back into a thick ponytail with a white sash around his forehead. A lively design, detailed with embossing on the obi and a dusting of mica across the top of the night sky.

Artist - Kunichika (1835 - 1900)

Image Size - 13 3/8" x 8 7/8"

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Slight paper remnant on reverse from previous backing. Slight toning and soiling, a couple stains at edge. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
